PASSIVE
FIRE PROTECTION
During a fire situation the temperature
within a building can rise from ambient around 20°C,
up to 1000 °C. As the temperature in the building
increases, so does the temperature of the steel structure
that supports the building. All steel sections will
rise to a critical steel temperature. This is the temperature
at which the steel section begins to loose its strength
and buckle.
The building regulations require that structural steel
is protected against fire, to ensure that the load-bearing
strength of the steel is not decreased as the temperature
increases.
REENTECH provides a wide range of passive fire protection
products which are able to provide a flexible response
to most of fire protection problems.
The range of products
is divided into the following groups of systems:
1. Spray
applied monolithic fire protective coating systems
are formulated from either vermiculite or mineral wool
and bound with Portland cement or gypsum. Used where
required with complementary components such as adhesives,
key coats, topcoats, sealers or reinforcement, these
wet spray-applied fire protective products offer cost
effective solutions to most fire resistance issues including
thermal and acoustic solution. Structural protected
have been assessed for up to 240 minutes fire resistance
as defined in BS 465: Part 6 & 7 and 21 for cellulosic
fires.
ISOLATEK 300
ISOLATEK 300 is a durable, wet mix spray-applied fire
resistive material (SFRM) designed to provide fire protection
to various floor and roof assemblies, steel beams, columns,
and joists in commercial construction projects.
ISOLATEK 300 offers the best fire resistance performance
per unit thickness of any spray-applied fire resistive
material. This means less material is needed to achieve
required fire ratings. ISOLATEK 300 is also very clean
and neat in appearance, with a smooth texture and cost
efficient application.
ISOLATEK 300 is applied exclusively by ISOLATEK licensed
and trained contractors, and our technical staff works
closely with building team members to meet all your
fire protection needs.
2. Intumescent
paint systems offer architectural freedom
for open atrium design and other creative design requiring
structural steel fire protection with an aesthetically
pleasing finish. Water based intumescent coating consisting
of polyvinyl acetate resins and fillers. Structural
protected steel have undergone fire resistance tests
in approved independent laboratories to recognized standards
ASTM E 119.
Neocoat Intumescent
Neocoat Intumescent is thin Film Intumescent
Systems that give architects the ability to design and
use steel that can be decorative and aesthetically pleasing!
The coating can be color coated to the surroundings
and allow steel to be left exposed to view while providing
the required fire resistive rating. Structural steel
no longer needs to be hidden behind ceiling and gypsum
board!
